Adult Buddhist Association

The purpose of the Orange County Adult Buddhist Association is to continue the propagation of the Buddha-Dharma and to promote the general activities and welfare of the Orange County Buddhist Church.

All adult members of OCBC (ages 21 to 121) are welcome to participate, and our annual dues of $5.00 per person makes it possible for everyone to join.

Every year we have an Installation Dinner where the new officers are installed and the new members are introduced. Much of the evening is spent in revelry, eating, and being with great people.

We provide quarter-a-dip lunches for the Spring and Fall Ohigans. Other groups also provide quarter-a-dip lunches for other occasions, and you really can’t get a better meal for the price.

ABA also participates in the Hanamatsuri and Obon Festivals by preparing chicken teriyaki plates and chicken bowls. We also cook lunch, one day each weekend of the festivals, for all the people from different organizations working early in the day. Many of our members also belong to other organizations, so a lot of our members are jumping from one work area to another.

On every first Sunday of the month, two of our members volunteer to set up the Hospitality table (beverages and other refreshments) for our sangha and the guests who visit OCBC.

A new annual event, the Super Bowl Party, was started in 2000. We have as many women there as men, and the reason for that? Good friends, good food, good times.

Ever hear of "one man’s junk is another man’s treasure"? That’s why we have the Parking Lot Sale in October. It’s so funny to see us buying each other’s discards. The entire sangha donates their "junk" and the funds raised from this event are given to OCBC.

Each year we also have at least one other activity for the purpose of getting together for fun, enjoyment, relaxation, escape, camaraderie, mental/physical/spiritual lift. Be it a ball game, seminar, Las Vegas trip, dance lessons, theatre party, craft session………….

it’s just another excuse to get together.

Being a member of ABA is a way to support OCBC, make a contribution, have fun, and be with wonderful people all at once.
