Inside Hondo - 4 hotspots in picture

Incense burners Freddie the Frog hides here For more about the Nijin, just continue the tour

The minister gongs the diakin or large bell to call people to service.  The Hondo which holds 260 people, is where services are held.  English services are held on Sundays at 10:00 a.m. and services in Japanese are at 1 o'clock in the afternoon.  The seating area, called the gejin, is plain symbolizing the secular world we live in.  The raised area is called the naijin symbolizing the world of truth or enlightenment.  It is very ornate, beautiful and awe inspiring.

During family services children will sit in pews by class grades.  Parents and adults sit in the rear pews.  There is additional seating  in the Mini Chapel next door.  Ministers will speak from the podium on the right.  People making announcements or the service leaders will speak from the podium on the left.

The hondo is also used for weddings and memorial services.  On New Years Eve members and visitors can gong the diakin.
